APRIL 8 WALLACE FALLS STATE PARK*
8:00 am to 3:30 pm (shorter options available)
Moderate to strenuous
This is a hike through forest and spectacular waterfalls north of Gold Bar along the Stevens Pass Highway. The main hike (Woody Trail to Old Road to Greg Ball Trail, to Old Railroad Grade back to the parking lot is 10 miles with 1400 ft elevation gain. You can make this a more strenuous hike of 14 miles with 1800 feet of elevation gain by taking a side trip to Jay Lake and back. You can shorten the main loop by 1 mile by coming back via the Woody Trail instead of Old Railroad Grade. If you want an even shorter hike, you can hike the Woody Trail to as many of the waterfalls as you like and then retrace your steps to the parking lot (a hike of up to 6.5 miles there and back on the Woody Trail).
MEETING LOCATION AND TIME: We will meet in the Mount Vernon Safeway main parking lot in the spaces closest to the gas station at 8:00 am to sign in and choose car pools for the various hike options. It is about an hour and a half drive to the trailhead.
RETURN TIMES will vary depending on route chosen. Those doing the 14-mile option will be back to the parking lot by 3:30 pm. You may leave when everyone in your car has returned to the parking lot.
Dogs allowed on leash. Restrooms at trailhead. Discover Pass required.
