Pre-registration required: see information below
Because parking at Sardis Raptor Center accommodates just 5 cars, we’ll all meet at the Chuckanut Park & Ride and carpool from there. Lake Terrell, five miles west of Ferndale, offers both waterfowl viewing (bring your scope if you’ve got one) and both resident and neotropical birds in the nearby forest. We will walk a level route of about a mile on a partly unpaved road to an accessible dock extending 100 yards into the lake. Beyond there we may continue on a potentially muddy trail not meeting accessibility standards. From here, we will go to the raptor center north of Ferndale, which houses 18 birds, including owls, hawks, eagles, a peregrine, and a vulture. A longtime volunteer will guide our visit. Photography is permitted at Sardis, but no flashes, please. Discover Pass needed for drivers to park at Lake Terrell, a Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife area. Toilet facilities are at both locations. Full details and sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094BA4AF28A4F4C16-62959820-lake
