APRIL 1 LOST LAKE, LARABEE STATE PARK*
9:00 am to 3:00 pm with options for earlier return times
Easy, moderate, and strenuous options available
Hike to a mirror lake in a rock trench on Chuckanut Mountain. The main hike is a strenuous 10-mile hike with 1900 feet of elevation gain. There are three less strenuous options for this hike:
(1) Take an easy hike along the flat Interurban Trail from the Lost Lake Parking Lot for as long as you wish before turning around
(2) Hike up to Fragrance Lake and back from the Lost Lake Parking Lot for a moderate 5-mile hike with 1062-ft elevation gain
(3) Take a moderate 6-mile hike to Lost Lake that avoids the climb up the Fragrance Lake Trail and the strenuous Double Black Diamond Trail. Carpool with at least two cars, leaving one car in the Lost Lake Parking Lot and driving the other car 5.5 miles to the Cyrus Gates Overlook at the top of Cleator Road. Hike down the steep Rock Trail to the South Lost Lake Trail and East Lake Trail to Lost Lake. Then follow the instructions on the main hike map to return to the Lost Lake Parking Lot via South Lost Lake Road and then either Fragrance Lake Road or Fragrance Lake Trail for a moderate 6-mile hike mostly downhill. Hikers who have left their car(s) at the Cyrus Gates Overlook will need to be shuttled up to collect it/them.
MEETING TIME AND PLACE: We will sign in and divide into hiking groups at the Lost Lake Parking Lot off Chuckanut Drive in Larabee State Park at 9:00 am
RETURN TIMES: Return times will vary depending on hiking pace and route taken. Those doing the main strenuous hike will be back to the parking lot by 3:00 pm. Those carpooling to Cyrus Gates Overlook will be back to the Lost Lake Parking Lot by 2:00 pm. Those hiking to Fragrance Lake will be back to the Lost Lake Parking Lot by 1:00 pm.
