Hike-Chain Lakes*

Moderate to hard

7:30-3:00

This is a wilderness hike, so may change depending on weather and other factors. Carry the 10 Essentials. Groups of no more than 12, including dogs. Sign up for our email list to be informed of changes.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE Meet at the Sedro-Woolley Food Pavilion before 7:30 am to sign in and carpool.  

DRIVING DIRECTIONS It will take about 2 hours to drive to the trailhead. Take Highway 9 to Deming. At the traffic circle, turn right on Highway 542/the Mount Baker Highway and drive to either the Heather Meadow’s Visitor Center or Artist’s Point. You may decide to have a car at Artist’s Point and another at Heather Meadows to avoid the steep climb between the two.

HIKE DESCRIPTION Hike up to 8 miles with 1500 ft elevation gain. You may hike either clockwise or anti-clockwise. If you have extra energy, you can start or end by walking around Bagley Lakes.  

RETURN TIME Each car will be their own group and will be responsible for the safe return of all in their vehicle. Each group may set its own return time. Most hikers will be done by 3:00 pm.
