Hike-Morovitz Creek Trail/Baker Hot Springs

August 13 Morovitz Creek Trail/Baker Hot Springs

7:30 am to 2:00 pm

Easy

This is a forest hike with streams and some mountain views on forest service road 1144 which has been converted to trail and is part of the route of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail, the PNT. One can hike to the Mt Baker Hot Springs and/or down to Rainbow Creek. 7.1 miles if one does all the options, with approximately a 500 ft elevation gain. Meet at the Sedro- Woolley Food Pavilion parking lot by 7:30 am.  Proceed to the Park Creek campground road, which is opposite to the Swift Creek campground on the Baker Lake highway.  The road to the hot springs parking lot has deep potholes requiring high clearance vehicles. Alternatively, you can hike from the Park Creek campground, but crossing the creek from there can be difficult when the creek is running high. The Hot Springs area is reported to be clean, but be aware that clothes are optional. Each car may set its own return time.  For access road and trail conditions, and weather updates, visit Baker Hot Springs — Washington Trails Association
