Walk on the 9:15 am ferry from Anacortes to Guemes. Sign-in will happen on the ferry and at ferry landing on Guemes. From the ferry dock, you have two options. Either walk 2 miles on the road to the Guemes Mountain trailhead. The trail up the mountain is 2.4 miles out and back with 606 ft elevation gain. Or from the ferry dock, walk up to the Guemes Island Store and take a left along South Shore Drive, which makes a 90-degree turn and becomes West Shore Drive at Kelly’s Point. Walk 1.5 miles along the road (from the store) until you see the sign for Dog Woods on the right. Walk up to 3 miles of trails at Dog Woods. The trails might be muddy. For those who want to make a day of it, combine both hikes for 11 miles and stop for a snack or drink at the Guemes Island Store before taking the ferry back to Anacortes. Maps will be provided. No pass required. Dogs on leash allowed. Restrooms available at Anacortes Ferry Terminal and at Guemes Island Store.

Difficulty: Moderate if you include the mountain
