Hike-Excelsior Peak via Damfino Lakes*

Moderate to hard (if you include the loop to the peak)

This is a wilderness hike, so may change depending on weather and other factors. Carry the 10 Essentials. Groups of no more than 12. Sign up for our email list to be informed of changes.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE Meet before 7:30 am at Sedro-Woolley Food Pavilion to sign in and carpool. 

DRIVING DIRECTIONS It will take about two hours to drive to the trailhead. Drive north on Highway 9 and then east on Highway 542, the Mount Baker Highway, to the Glacier Public Service Center. This is a good restroom stop. Continue east on SR 542 1.8 miles. Turn left on Canyon Creek Road (FR-31), a one-lane paved road. At 8.5 miles, go straight. At 9.3 miles, cross Canyon Creek on a bridge, then turn right to stay on pavement. At 11.6 miles, stay left. At 15.3 miles, stay left again. The trailhead is at the end of FR-31, 16.7 miles from the turnoff from 542. There is a vault toilet and parking for about 15 vehicles. 

RETURN TIMES 3:00 pm. All are to wait until all hikers are returned safely before leaving the trailhead.
