Join us to look for migrating shorebirds at Fir Island Farms (formerly Hayton Reserve) on an incoming tide. Some of the birds foraging on the mudflats in Skagit Bay will move to FIF as the tide comes in. Expect to see regulars like Western and least sandpipers, dowitchers, yellowlegs and killdeer; possibly black-bellied and semipalmated plover; perhaps pectoral, spotted or semipalmated sandpiper; and, if we're lucky, even rarities like red knot or either golden plover. We'll see waterfowl, too, and a few passerines. The show will last about two hours until rising water forces the shorebirds out.

Bring binoculars and a spotting scope, if you have one. Meet at the T-junction where the trail from the parking lot meets the dike trail. Discovery Pass required. Birdability rates Fir Island Farms as handicapped-accessible, and there is a port-a-potty on site.
