May 27 DIABLO LAKE TRAIL/SKAGIT RIVER GORGE

This hike begins and ends at the parking lot for the North Cascade Environmental Learning Center. Hike up to 7.4 miles (1532 ft elevation gain) to the suspension bridge over the Skagit River just before the Ross Lake Dam. If you don’t want to do the steep descent to the suspension bridge, hike 6.5 miles (1283 ft total elevation gain) to the Ross Dam Viewpoint and turn around there. Great views of the Skagit River Gorge along the way.
Meet at 8:00 am on the east side of the Sedro-Woolley Food Pavilion parking lot to sign in and arrange carpools. Proceed to Highway 20 and drive east 62 miles and then turn left onto Diablo Dam Road. It takes about an hour and a half to drive to the trailhead.
Return to cars by 2:00 pm. All cars are to wait until all hikers have returned safely before leaving. Be sure to check for ticks after the hike.
