OCTOBER 8: MONTE CRISTO* Hike to the old, historic mining townsite of Monte Cristo east of Granite Falls beginning and ending at Barlow Pass, elev 2,400 ft. 4 miles one-way to old townsite, 400 ft elev gain in 4 miles. South Fork of Sauk River must be crossed by a foot log or by fording. Meet at 8:30 AM at the Mount Vernon Safeway parking lot.  NFP Pass required.  Return to Safeway lot at 3 PM. Dogs OK..
