March 18: LOOKOUT MTN OR STIMPSON RESERVE

Our moderate to strenuous route on Lookout Mountain will be a combination of the Rufus Creek Trail, the Waterfall Trail, and the steep, multi-use Baneberry Trail for a distance of 6.4 miles and an elevation of approximately 1000 feet. For those who would like a gentler option or an add-on, the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve is just down the road with several loops adding up to 4.4 miles with an elevation gain of 300 feet.
MEETING PLACES AND RETURN TIMES: Meet by 8:30 am at the Chuckanut Park and Ride [999 N Burlington Blvd, Burlington, WA 98233 / exit 231 from I-5 on the east side of I-5] to arrange carpools or drive directly to the Lookout Mountain Trailhead [2537 Lake Louise Road, Bellingham], where we will sign in for both hikes between 9:00 and 9:15 am. Restrooms available. Dogs are not allowed in the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve. You may leave when your group returns to the car. Hikers will usually be finished by 2:00 pm.
