MEETING TIME AND PLACE Chuckanut Park and Ride before 8:30 am to sign in and arrange carpools. You can also sign in at the trailhead at 9:00 am. 

DRIVING DIRECTIONS It will take about thirty minutes to drive to the trailhead. Drive north on I-5. Take exit 240. Turn right on Lake Samish Road. After 5.3 miles, make a slight left onto Cain Lake Rd/Lake Whatcom Blvd. Drive 3.2 miles and turn left onto Lake Louise Road. After 1.4 miles, turn left into the parking lot for Lookout Mountain Preserve. 

HIKE DESCRIPTION The map for this hike will be sent in the weekly hike email. Take the trail marked in green on the map from the parking lot up to the logging road. Turn left on the logging road and hike 0.2 miles to the start of the Waterfall Trail. Hike back down to A. Turn left at A and then left again on the Baneberry Trail and hike up to B. The end of this section is steep! At B, hike 0.3 miles to the lookout. Hike back down to B, turn left and take the Rufus Creek Trail back down to the logging road. Turn left and hike the road back to the parking lot. If you follow these directions, you will hike about 6 miles with about 1000 ft of elevation gain. You can check the map to find less strenuous options.  

RETURN TIME Most hikers will be done by 2:00 pm or earlier. You may leave when all in your car are returned to the trailhead. 

No pass required. Dogs allowed on leash. Outhouse at trailhead.
