Birding Field Trip-Wiley Slough (Conway)

Welcome Back to Wiley Slough (East of Conway on the Fir Island Road)

Sunday, Nov 9th    9am to 1pm; pre-registration required (see link below)

Trip leader: Jeff Osmundson; contact Andrew at fieldtrips@skagitaudubon.com with questions

We will meet at 9am during a fairly high tide.  That will likely be good for ducks and other waterfowl but will limit shorebird opportunities. We’ll meet in the Headquarters parking lot under the pavilion for introductions and the plan for the day.  This area is reasonably accessible with level gravel pathways.  We will gear towards beginners and have extra binoculars if you need them. The likely route will be to walk towards the boat launch and then out towards the new viewing blind.  Beyond that we will stay on the dike and look for any shorebirds and ducks on the falling tide. This is a wonderful place for beginners to expert birders. A Discover Pass is required for parking. Point of interest:  We will stop and take a look at the rehabilitation plantings that the membership paid for and which were planted by volunteers. Caution:  it is hunting season, and we will be in the safety zone, but you may hear the sounds of shotguns in the distance.
