Pre-registration required: see information below
Meet at 7:00 am at Exit 212 off I-5 for carpools or 8:00 am at the Verlot Ranger Station (33515 Mountain Loop Hwy, Granite Falls). The Big Four area lies along the south fork of the Stillaguamish River east of Granite Falls. The mountain birding is exceptional in June, the picnic area has spectacular views of Big Four Mountain and wildflowers are in bloom. Plan to hike 2 miles (elevation 200’ gain) on a boardwalk across a freshwater marsh, through woods and ending at the ice caves where we will have lunch. Expect to see red-breasted sapsuckers, flycatchers & warblers. There may be dippers, ducks & spotted sandpipers on the river. A Northwest Forest Pass or an America-the- Beautiful Access, Annual, Military, or Senior Pass is required. Register here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094BA4AF28A4F4C16-56579017-big4
