A PNW native shrub exhibiting beauty in all seasons. Shape is irregular and upright. Height is 3-5 feet in the sun and 10-15 feet in the shade. Requires good drainage and once established is drought tolerant. Thrives with a layer of mulch. It is a good companion to rhododendrons, ferns, and conifers.
Winter--- Glossy dark green leaves with maroon stems
Spring----Bronze/copper new growth with small pink/white urn shaped pendulous flowers frequented by hummingbirds and bees.
Summer----Black/purple fruit forms
Fall-----Fruit ripens drawing birds such as American Robin, Spotted Towhee, Cedar Waxwing and Varied Thrush to the garden.
